Glenn Hauser logs June 14-15-16 , 2015

** BOLIVIA. 6135-, June 16 at 0106, ``Santa Cruz --- está donde el pueblo vive y trabaja`` slogan from R. Santa Cruz; fairly good.
6155+, June 16 at 0119, very poor signal and some modulation seems Spanish but maybe not, and somewhat distorted from presumed R. Fides, always on hi side
5952.4, June 16 at 0119, much better signal than Fides from co-Catholic R. Pio Doce, presumed on signature split-frequency. (I am in too big a hurry to harvest bumper crop of apricots to take time to measure all the frequencies in this session).
It may be midsummer here, but midwinter south of the Equator gives a slight headstart boost to sub/tropical signals originating there, and on occasion our storm noise level is low enough to audiblize them here. K index also went up from 2 to 3 between 00 and 03 UT June 16 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) See CHILE
** BRAZIL. 6040.4 approx., June 16 at 0107, music and Brazuguese announcement, way off frequency, i.e. RB2, as made it // 9725 while nothing but Cairo audible on 11935.0 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CHILE. On SW? Tnx to a tip from Patrick Robic, Austria via Wolfgang Büschel, Copa América football games concerning Chile were likely to activate a utility transmitter on 12365.
There it is on 12365-USB, June 15 at 2344, very poor signal but exaggerated enthusiasm as in a silly ballgame. Is this from Portales network like a sesquiyear ago as in DXLD 14-08? That transmission was believed to be from the Diego Portales network via coastal station CBV Valparaíso.
Word spread quickly on the DXLD yg and HCDX, with several others hearing it; including Arnaldo Slaen in Argentina who says this year the station relayed is Cooperativa, and the game is also on reactivated Chilean pirate RCW, 7550, unchecked here where never heard. Vs. México, same live game surely the one on Televisa net-5, ch 5, also visible here, q.v.
Back to 12365-USB here, at 0058 UT June 16, ``goooaaaaal``; 0122 final check still going, also mentioned ``goal``, but too short, maybe only in passing.
The ``winter-headstart`` effect I mention under BOLIVIA once was helpful getting S American MW into N America too; IIRC long ago in midsummer, R. Cooperativa was making it to NM/CO pre-sunrise on 760; if only frequencies were not all clogged today. Only a few Chileans are 50 kW or more now: 660, 760, 1060, 1180, 1380 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CUBA. 15370, June 15 at 1324, no signal from RHC, yet nominal on 15730 and much weaker // 15230 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** EGYPT. 11935.0, June 16 at 0108, R. Cairo, fair in Spanish, no ZY
12070+, June 16 at 0108, R. Cairo, very good level but suptorted Spanish modulation
9315+, June 16 at 0110, R. Cairo Spanish, poor and suptorted, slightly hi in frequency instead of right on
9965-, June 16 at 0111, R. Cairo, Arabic service but dead air and only fair signal. Usually stronger and on + side, so a different transmitter? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** MEXICO. I keep the analog monitor running on ch 2 most of the day June 15 so the snow keeps me cool? But no sporadic E, until
2319 UT on 2, Televisa-2 net fade-in with novela, star bug in LR. Looks like it`s the head-on version, rather than the tilted-angle `3-D` version. Fades 2325 by when I have looked up the schedule and find `La Vecina` on it. As usual, 6m Es map shows heavy activity over USA, mainly southeast, as far as TX, but only one border Mexican in the northwest. Are there no 6m active hams in the massive DF?
2331 on 2, fade-in something else, and audible lo het video CCI
2336 on 2, fade-in net-2 again, video only
2351 on 2, fade-in stronger, net-2 and color burst attained this time confirming bug is red and white
2352 on 2, LA VECINA in lower left, then switch to Televisa URL
2356 on 4, MUF up to here, f bug in LR = Foro TV, Televisa net-4, feature about archaeology by UNAM at a Maya temple
UT June 16:
0003 on 5, MUF surges higher, for less than a minute a fútbol game, surely the big deal Copa América, live México vs Chile, q.v., as sked on Televisa net-5. Makes almost zero-beat bars with analog cable radiation of KOCO-5.
These nets on ch 2, 4, and 5 match up with the originating stations in México DF itself: XEW-2, XHTV-4, XHGC-5. Soon it all fades out (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** PERU. 5980, June 16 at 0100, JBA carrier from R. Chaski, until cutoff at 0103:35.5*, which is 68 seconds later than last check 11 nights ago on June 5 at 0102:27.5 = averaging 6.2 seconds later per, adhering closely to its long-established ``schedule`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SRI LANKA. 11905, June 16 at *0114:11 carrier on from SLBC; 0114:46 music prélude starts; 0115:19 the 2+1 timesignal ends right on mis-time. Very poor signal but still making it transpolar grayline (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 5000, June 16 at 0104, WWV YL announces a leap second will be added June 30, 2015 at 2359:60. It`s been a few years since the last leaper, I think. I usually tune to WWV right after a Chaski-check to calculate its exact true time vs my watch (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1777 monitoring: confirmed on WRMI: Sunday June 14 at 2100 on 15770; 2300 on 11580; UT Monday June 15 at 0330 on 9955, the latter with lite pulse jamming: tnx a lot, Arnie!
The 0300 UT Monday June 15 broadcast on Area 51 confirmed on webcast, but --- not on WBCQ 5110v-CUSB, which was playing country music! I guess they lost feed from Area 51 and probably filled with their FM station audio, still thus at 0327 (not // 7490 or 9330). Next:
1100 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955
0630 UT Wednesday HLR 7265-CUSB
1315 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955
1430 UT Wednesday HLR 7265-CUSB
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v

** U S A. 9329.85-CUSB, June 16 at 0112, WBCQ with over-assertive preacher who thinx he knows it all. PL-880 measures it approx. here tonight, not on the hi side where it may also vary (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 5935, June 15 at 0546, dead air from the so-called University Network on WWCR --- lasts too long to cover a mere cigar light-up or puff of DGS --- about a minute later, his audio from the grave starts to cut on and off, then mostly on (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
