Glenn Hauser logs April 15-16-17-18-19 , 2015

** CHINA. 16100, April 19 at 1307, open carrier, fair-good, no doubt CNR1 jammer in a break on one of its prime frequencies.
17705 & 17735, April 19 at 1308, CNR1 jammers, fair with flutter, Western classical music as often the case Sunday evenings during this hour, the original composers having no clue their output would ever be used for such a nefarious purpose. 17705 is of course vs AIR Chinese until 1315, and 17735 vs BBC Uzbek via Thailand, this semihour only.
17510, April 19 at 1308, CNR1 jammer, very poor; also vs BBC Uzbek, here scheduled via Oman.
11640, April 19 at 1311, CNR1 jammer, very poor; here vs Taiwan in Chinese. None found in the OOB 12s, 13s, 14s, 18s (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** EAST TURKISTAN. 15445, April 19 at 0432, nice music show with songs sounding like Russian, good with flutter, and // 15665 about the same. HFCC shows these are CRI Russian at 04-06, 500 kW, 308 degrees from Kashgar on 15445, Urumqi on 15665 (so if I had compared, they probably would have been out of synch). 0454 finally Russian announcements, and 0457 some Chinese music fill for a change (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** EGYPT. 11913, April 19 at 0138, what`s this? Open carrier, or rather just barely modulated and suptorted, à la Radio Cairo style on various frequencies. VG signal level at 43-57 dbu on the PL-880 with short random wire. See previous report of a wide R. Cairo blob around here blocking 11905 Sri Lanka et al., but this time it`s not a problem to adjacent weak 11905 nor to 11920 WRMI with Taiwan, which is at 49-63 dbu. Also this time, there is no signal from Egypt or Brasil on 11935, so probably that transmitter, but I cannot get an audio match to any of the other Cairo frequencies:
12070, April 19 at 0141, R. Cairo with Qur`an, VG level but suptorted
9315, April 19 at 0142, NO signal from R. Cairo Spanish where there ought to be and usually is one
9965, April 19 at 0145, R. Cairo, with Arabic talk and music
** GREECE. 9420, April 19 at 0150, ERT with Greek music and announcement, good signal on an increasingly rare appearance.
15630, April 19 at 0151, JBA, but enough to match it to ERT // 9420 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** INDIA. 15040, April 19 at 1306, fair signal with Bollywood music, i.e. Myanmarianese service of AIR at 1200-1315, 500 kW, 60 degrees from Bengaluru. Would have preferred Burmese music (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NIGERIA. 15120-, April 19 at 0437, open carrier/dead air, slightly on the low side compared to KMOX; presumably V. of Nigeria warming up for 0500 English broadcast. Recheck at 0504, YL news in English, undermodulated but not distorted; 0505 dead air (or maybe some soft music interlude?), 0506 resume talk (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6955-USB, April 19 at 0128, pirate with jazz/blues music. Seemed a bit of a carrier too, but definitely no LSB. Periodic chex next semihour continue with music, would be a good signal but not enough to overcome all the storm noise nearby in OK. 0154 quick announcement which I miss, and into SSTV beeps, off at 0156*. These details match numerous logs here as Wolverine Radio:,21473.0.html
including fuzzy images of the SSTV (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** OKLAHOMA. Sunday April 19 from at least 1300 UT, all four major OKC TV stations are covering live the 20th anniversary commemoration of the Bombing, some inserting pre-produced pieces about the survivors or descendants which have also been running for at least a week on local news shows.
Based on previous sporadic carriage of CBS by KWTV, a couple days before, I reminded them that we expect `CBS Sunday Morning`, and `Face the Nation` to be available unscathed on one of their alternate channels, 9.2 or 52.1, and indeed they are on KSBI, RF 23.
The formal program is underway by 1345 UT, for the traditional 168 seconds of silence --- except on KFOR RF 27, we can clearly hear the director calling camera shots!! That should never have been on the air. At least I assume it`s the KFOR director, altho could even be an intrusion from another station with someone`s mike open when it should not be. I don`t know the names of the various camera operators to compare.
Various long-winded speakers go right past 9:03 am [1403 UT], the exact time of the explosion 20.000 years ago. At this time, guest singer is performing ``How Great Thou Art``, and most of the speakers, with exception of Pres. Clinton later, work in heavy doses of Christian theology.
Was not a single one of the 168 victims an Atheist, Jew, Moslem, or Other? In Oklahoma, they assume everyone is a Christian; if not, shut up and don`t let anyone know. At 1407 they even have a Catholic archbishop on. Supposedly secular elected officials like Governess Fallin keep speaking about faith, etc., etc. rather than blaming their god for letting this happen (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** TURKEY. Re whether or not `Letterbox` still exist on VOT as in previous report: I caught the first half of the Saturday April 18 broadcast on the next webcast transmission, 1830 UT, and no Letterbox then, either.
Alan Roe replies: ``Glenn, There are DX Corner podcasts available up to and including the final edition of 27 December:
Although this doesn't confirm the situation in A-15, I did log Letterbox on 31 January, but seem to have managed to miss the likely "On" weeks for Letterbox since then. There was no "Letterbox" today - instead there was "Turkey Rising Out of the Crisis". But today would be the "off" week for Letterbox. Alan Roe, Teddington, UK`` (Glenn Hauser, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 5109.7-CUSB, UT Sunday April 19 at 0130, WBCQ fighting lots of OK storm noise rather unsuccessfully, but I do make out a Miller Hilife beer ad(!), then yodeling cowboy with ``Last Roundup``.
Area 51 website now shows details for this weekend:
``On-air, April 18-19, 2015
All on WBCQ 5.110 MHz and
Saturday, April 18, 2015 [into UT Sunday]
7pm 2300 Radio Timtron Worldwide
9pm 0100 The Lumpy Gravy Radio Show
10pm 0200 Zombo In Your Brain
Sunday, April 19, 2015 [into UT Monday]
7pm 2300 Grits Radio (new time)
8pm 0000 Plastic Magic
10pm 0200 Jean Shepherd
11pm 0300 Glenn Hauser’s World of Radio 1769
1130pm 0330 Glenn Hauser’s World of Radio 1768``
Note two WORs in a row, as 1768 was missed by mistake last week. Tnx, Larry Will.
I missed checking the true time of WOR on WA0RCR, 1860-AM this week circa 0315 UT Sunday; if I could have heard it vs storm noise. Next:
Sun 2100 WRMI 15770
Sun 2300 WRMI 11580
Mon 0300v WBCQ 5110v Area 51
Tue 1100 WRMI 9955
Wed 1315 WRMI 9955
Wed 2100 WBCQ 7490v
Thu 0330 WRMI 9955 [or 1770 if ready in time]
** U S A. 11825, Saturday April 18 after 22 UT, WRMI is on with Global 24 programming, scheduled weekends only. G24 website continues unupdated beyond March 30, and the exact programming doesn`t match. I only make quick chex sometime during each hour, to find: 22 old time radio, 23 Rock Pile; UT April 19: 00 oldtime radio, 01 Rick Steves Travel. During the 23 UT hour only, 5850 also on with Democracy Now, altho there is no show produced on weekends. Could not listen long enough to evaluate whether these were new episodes, but I doubt it.
Except Travel show, which sounded very familiar, guest Christopher P Baker, about loosened travel restrixions for Americans to Cuba. Yes, indeed, it was the March 28 edition:
and there have now been three more, but not via Global 24!
The G24 website has not been redesigned, still claiming to be on 9395. BTW, G24 Facebook said March 28, ``We our [sic] mailing paper QSL cards again on April 15 - get a report in if you want one.`` So by April 20 mailboxes should be inhabited. Has anyone received a card? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 11580 // weaker 9955, UT Sunday April 19 at 0132, WRMI with some classical band music catches my ear, but 0135 into Spanish M&W gospel huxters with ``historias inolvidables de la Biblia``. Grid shows that would be `Maravillosas Palabras`, but I`d prefer just the music (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
This report dispatched at 1624 UT April 19
** ANGUILLA. 6090, April 18 at 0117, CBB is missing; also no 11775 circa 1300 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** ARGENTINA [and non]. 11711-, UT Sat April 18 at 0135, RAE is only poor in storm noise, not boosted like last night with a K of 6; at least there is no spur audible from Brasil, but still crackling around 11745 & 11815 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CANADA. 990, UT Sat April 18 at 0605 UT, CBW opening news magazine, ``The Monocle Daily, live from London on Monocle 24``; little problem from usual opposite nemesis XET Monterrey; could they really be direxional south for a change??? Monocle is a new one on me, but is now one of the contributors to CBC Overnight, along with ABC, BBC, DW, PRI and RTE. Here`s the ``winter`` sked of CBC Overnight on Radio 1:
showing `Monocle Daily` [sic] really airs Saturdays only at 1-2 am.
This sked claims times are Eastern, as of March 9, implying that altho for Winter, DST has been taken into account. Yet, we know better that the times are Eastern ONLY in the Eastern zone! Delayed an hour for CBW in Central, etc., etc. (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CHINA. 9200, April 18 at 1251, CNR1 jammer, very poor; none others audible in the low-9s, and no complete bandscan undertaken today (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** EGYPT. 11935++, April 18 at 0124, open carrier/dead air, no het but slightly on the hi side, fair with flutter. Must be R. Cairo rather than RB2 Brasil, apparently off.
12070+, April 18 at 0125, R. Cairo in suptorted Spanish on VG signal level. Slightly on the hi side but not as far off as 11935. The Spanish is axually partially readable! 0125 ``Radio El Cairo presenta`` --- pause for several seconds of musical theme --- ``Efemérides --- un programa semanal``. This format for opening programs applies across the board in Spanish and other languages, and IIRC Turkey does it as well.
9965+++, April 18 at 0126, R. Cairo, very good in Arabic, not distorted but with perpetual whine; further off frequency than 12070 and 11935.
9315.0, April 18 at 0126, R. Cairo, fair in Spanish, not too distorted, and not off-frequency for a change (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** OKLAHOMA. 1270, April 18 at 0555 UT, VG signal with Mexican music, looping E/W, soon ID by SHVA as ``La Zeta 1270 AM``, so KTUZ Claremore (Tulsa market), 5/1 kW U4. Day and night patterns favor ENE/WSW, not so much toward here. I could easily believe this was on 5 kW day power. Note that namesake KTUZ FM // 106.7 is way over in OKC, and the TV station on RF 29 (``30``, ``36`` or ``48`` depending on which Spanish virtual channel one views) is in Shawnee/OKC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SRI LANKA. 11905, April 18 at *0114:11 SLBC carrier on, fair with heavy flutter; 0114:46 music prélude starts, 0115:19, 2+1 mistimesignal ends, sign-on announcement. These times are quite reliable compared to each other showing good precision: the only problem is that they are all wrong (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** TURKEY. Please monitor a Saturday English broadcast from VOT --- I have been trying to confirm whether or not there is any `Letterbox` still airing, at least on alternate weeks, the `DX Corner` having been canceled last year.
Their podcast page is a mess --- random bits of various programs here and there from various dates --- but never (at least not recently) anything dated on a Saturday or Sunday, as if a different crew doesn`t bother to put up any of those programs, except perhaps `Today in History`. One used to be able to pick a date, click, and listen to an entire English transmission on demand.
There is one `DX Corner` podcast from last August, perhaps the final one. The program schedule page for English remains blank, when viewed both on IE and Mozilla.
The links to these are on Alan Roe`s Hitlist,
When I bring up the VOT World webcast at 1700 UT Sat April 18, the player timer already shows 6:50:00 and it`s in Spanish about --- what else --- Atatürk. Spanish is scheduled at 1630 on 11930, English on 15520. There are two other live webcasts, East and West --- West goes to Russian! when there is none such scheduled on SW, only at 13-14.
Finally we find English at 1705 on the East webcast: `Eco-Friendly Turks` is ending, 1706 `Today in History`. 1710, `Question of the Month`, about Year of Turkish Culture 2015 celebrated in which country? Then music fill, nicely in stereo. 1723 headlines; 1725 English SW schedule in jumbled fashion by announceress who obviously doesn`t understand what she is reading; sign-off but more music continues, now the latest IS, 1729 mixed with IDs in French. 1730 timesignal 52 seconds late (on webcast), and opening French. So if there was a `Letterbox` earlier, we already missed it. I expect different English broadcasts will be on different webcasts at different times. They fail to make any of this clear (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1769 monitoring: confirmed Friday April 17 at 2130.5 on WRMI 7570 --- very poor in noise level, and NOT on 15770 where it had been reliably, instead carrying RFI Musique --- which is shown on the schedule for System D, 15770 at 21-22, as filler, at various times almost every day of the week. The only nominal time for WOR on 15770 is now Sundays at 2100, altho still Thu April 16 it was on 15770 as well as 7570. We`d much prefer 15770, as 7570 is getting absorbed into summer daytime noise level, and really should be moved to a higher band.
Thomas Völkner notifies us April 17: ``Hi Glenn, Due to maintenance work at the Goehren transmitter site, there will be no HLR transmissions over the coming two weekends resp. Wednesdays. Regular transmissions will resume on Saturday, May 2nd, with WOR and other media shows in their usual slots. Allbest, Thomas`` By ``resp.`` he means also off Wednesdays.

** U S A. 5850, Friday April 17 at 2332, WRMI is on with `Democracy Now`, Amy Goodman recognizable anywhere. This would be the Global 24 service, not RMI programming. Could not hear it at first next to noisy computer, but audible fairly outside on the PL-880. Could not listen long enough to determine whether it`s the current day`s episode; last weekend, DN was also replaying on Sat and Sun. Global 24 is also allegedly still scheduled Sat/Sun at 22-02 UT Sun/Mon on 11825, but those may be automated replays of old programming like observed last weekend. There is still nothing new on G24 website or Facebook since late March (Glenn Hauser, OK, April 18, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 7490.0, UT Sat April 18 at 0129, WBCQ with `Allan Weiner Worldwide`` running really long this week after 0000 UT start. He`s talking about where to get the best lobster rolls at chowderhouses on the coast of Maine. New co-host on the phone seems to be called Norm, saying goodbye to him, reachable at or 941-737-7159.
Allan says he will be in transit next week so some others in the crew will do this show, and also the following week (and Norm won`t be available either). 0134 his closing prayer to Jesus, but then plugs for BCQ airtime, mentioning 7490, 5110 and 9330, but not 15420 (and 9330 has been off the air for weeks), until finished at 0141; 0142 WBCQ jingle ID, joining Brother Scare`s screenreader with the same BS we have heard earlier this week about America being destroyed by nuclear strikes from somewhere. This is running one word behind 7570 WRMI.
5110 was already carrying Brother Scare during AWWW so that was on 7490 only. Recheck at 0544 still on with BS, fair-good signal, presumably until 0700 UT Sat as Larry Will told me, rather than until 0500 as Ivo Ivanov assumed.
5110-CUSB will presumably return to Area 51 programming on Sat/UT Sun and Sun/UT Mon, but as of 1633 UT April 18, no new schedule for this weekend at Larry may still be away in Europe (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 7505.4, April 18 at 0128, WRNO is back on after missing several days, VG signal level but distorted music, and always way off-frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1440, April 18 at 0553 UT, peaking NE/SW in heavy QRM, tuning by, I hear ``The Big Talker, KHHA(?)``. No, it must be my closest but seldom heard 1440, KMAJ Topeka KS, 5/1 kW U3 with such a slogan. Both day and night patterns aim NW, with a null toward here. I never hear a trace of it on daytime groundwave, unlike 580 WIBW which is almost a local (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 11425-SSB, April 18 at 1257-1313+, intermittent singing, initially and repetitively with syllables sounding like ``ba-ta-hay`` over and over, some overlap from competitors; 1313 more of a real song but also with repeated syllables. Presumably the Indonesian QSO pirates which infest this part of the band (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
This report despatched at 1744 UT April 18
** ANGUILLA. 11775, April 17 at 1404, no signal from CBB, missing a lot lately: Harold Frodge in MI notes both 6090 and 11775 missing at numerous chex April 13-16, but PMS still on WWCR 5935 or 13845 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** ARGENTINA [and non]. 11711-, UT Fri April 17 at 0042, RAE with much better signal than usual, tnx to boost by K-index of 6: music, then Brazilian announcement. Fortunately, no spur from BRAZIL 11780 while the first-order ones on 11745 & 11815 are audible but weak. Compare to UT Sat but UT Sun & Mon, RAE will be off for the weekend (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** AUSTRALIA. 9580 & 12085, April 17 at 1330, RA is still carrying `Keys to Music` during this hour on Friday, this week featuring Bach Cantatas and the stories behind them (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CANADA. 1610, April 17 at 0507 UT, CHHA Toronto music with boosted bass beat, as I often notice, even when the signal is quite weak, thump, thump, thump. Do those locally or in the east who get it loudly and routinely, notice this? It`s a lot easier for AM stations to transmit low than high audio frequencies, but this one stands out. Perhaps it helps that there is usually no CCI with SAHs and LAHs to confuse things (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CHINA. CNR1 jammers morning of April 17:
13980, April 17 at 1243, CNR1 jammer, fair with flutter
12950, April 17 at 1245, CNR1 jammer, fair with flutter; none in 14s
16100, April 17 at 1408, CNR1 jammer, very poor, flutter; no 15 OOBs
17760, April 17 at 1408, CNR1 jammer, good with flutter
EiBi has these matched up:
17760 1400-1500 2467 CHN CNR1 Jammer M FE
17760 1400-1500 2467 USA Voice of America TB FE /THA-u
Days 2467 in his system = Tue/Thu/Sat/Sun, but this is Fri!
Aoki version, where days = Sun/Tue/Thu/Sat, but this is Fri!
17760*VOICE OF AMERICA 1400-1500 Tibetan 250 321 Udon Thani THA 1725N 10245E VOA/IBB a15
I can`t tell if VOA is really there under the jamming, but the ChiCom sure think it is; or are they suitably confused by the day-of-week jumparound? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** OKLAHOMA. 1360+ & 1420-, April 17 at 1227 UT, and just about anytime, local 1390 KCRC Enid is still putting out matching spurs plus and minus almost 30 kHz, lowly hetting whatever stations may be audible on those frequencies more exactly. Pitch of the two hets almost matches, but never quite due to loose frequency tolerances at KCRC et al. They loop toward the KCRC site (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SOUTH CAROLINA [non non]. 15320, April 17 at 1246, Brother Scare is spelling out M I N I S T R Y and O V E R C O M E R, as if we`d never heard him before and/or were totally stupid --- but then that`s his prime demographic. Fair signal on newish frequency via WHRI, ex-11700 where I first heard this transmission. Aoki shows 15320 at 12-13 is daily except Sunday, while previous hour 11-12 is 7-daily (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 7555, April 17 at 1237, WEWN Spanish is still on night frequency with morning mass, long pregnant pauses presumably filled with something on video, // 12050, and // original English version on 11520. So day frequencies 11550 Spanish and 15610 English do not start now until 1300 UT. Website sked is still outdated, expiring March 29,
claiming day starts at 8 am ``Eastern`` (not applicable to Alabama, but so what?), which would now be 12 UT. So why would they stay on night frequencies one real hour *later* in the summer when the sun is rising earlier and earlier? Not the only US SW station to schedule contrary to common sense (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 17790, April 17 at 1408, no signal from WRMI/R. Africa Network, while 17775 KVOH is inbooming; WRMI audible poorly on 15770, goodly on 11825. These and 9395 are the only four WRMI frequencies now scheduled between 14 and 21 (17790 to 15190 at 2000 if operational) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1320, April 17 at 1228 UT, mentions 91.5 FM, St. Louis weather, iHeart Radio, 1320 AM. Not clear if // the FM, or cross promotion. These are Bott stations. NRC AM Log lists KSIV AM & FM Clayton MO as //. However, the FM would have to be non-commercial, so is the AM too? KSIV is 4.6/0.27 kW U2; well after sunrise now.
1320 was my local while at Washington University, 1963-1965y; call then was KXLW. That`s too far back before 1978y to show in FCC call sign history for facility 6499. Here`s an exhaustive listing of all the frequency, ownership and call sign changes in the St Louis market, saying KXLW lasted until July 1975:
Also there is this story about KXLW`s colorful early history long before I was there:
** U S A. 1580, April 17 at 0520 UT, looking for the new KHIG in Colorado Springs CO (ex-KREL, sports): looping NW/SE probably this, atop but with considerable QRM, W&W interview mentions ``all things women`` (a title?), about nutrition, libido, nether regions. Guest on phone is nutritionist Abby; 0532 UT local ad with addresses but I can`t copy anything to match to C.S.
All this during heavy local T-storm, no AC power outage but on DX-398, battery and internal antenna only. 0533 UT ID by M sounds like ``Kick-1580``, which makes me wonder if it`s KXZZ Lake Charles LA 1/1 kW U2, which is sports format but not known to use that slogan; possibly CCI from it. Then back to `All About Her` program; 0559 UT ID by low-key M voice, stoned? tentatively KHIG, 0600 UT right into ``Radio MD``. That`s the network/webcast carrying `All About Her`.
About the program, subtitled ``the NAKED truth about WOMEN``:
But hard to find any affiliate list of real radio stations.
Shawn Axelrod in Manitoba two hours earlier was hearing Kay-High-15-80 with non-pot talk about benefits of sleeping nude, other health matters. Ex-KREL facility is 10000/140 watts U1, and was well-known for running day power at night which would still be likely (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1700, April 17 at 1218 UT, ``1700 The Champ`` IDs, Des Moines and Iowa ads, 1221 UT back to CBS Sports Radio. From KBGG, distinguishing it from KVNS TX on another sports network (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

This report dispatched at 1644 UT April 17

** CUBA. 15700, April 16 at 1356, RHC music, Spanish outro to `Despertar` show, // 15730. 15700 should have been open carrier leadup to CRI English relay, to which it suddenly did switch at 1400, but as if caused by the program feed switch, transmitter then starts cutting off the air and back on, 1401 stays more or less on (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** EGYPT. 12070, April 17 at 0058, R. Cairo, good signal in music, then Spanish? suptorted (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6940-AM, April 17 at 0100 music on very poor signal, noise from storms just west of here. This thread,21451.15.html
says it was R. Casablanca on 6939.9 AM (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 9980, April 16 at 1304, synthetic voice with prophecy that there will be nuclear strikes on the US over the pole and from subs in both oceans; Statue of Liberty will fall on her face, America will melt. Sounds like a defective screen reader, swallowing and skipping syllables. This is WWCR and at first wondered if some non-TOM program, but soon found // 11825 WRMI as they go back to Brother Scare himself. How fortunate we are to have such a warning by the all-knowing screen reader. Or rather, what crap! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1768 monitoring: confirmed on WBCQ webcast, Wed April 15 at 2100; 7490 only a JBA carrier by 2126.
WORLD OF RADIO 1769 monitoring: confirmed first airing UT Thursday April 16 at 0350 on WRMI 9955; over lite pulse jamming, tnx a lot, Arnie! Clear on webcast from 0330. Also confirmed at 1257 Thursday April 16 on 9955, having started at 1230; now only poor signal and splash from stronger T8WH 9950 with YL gospel huxter, Kathie at Water of Life, Plano TX per outro before ID. (Then T8WH switches to 9965; 9950 apparently replaces 9930, where it was no QRM to WRMI; why such a move?) WOR 1769 also confirmed at new time of Thu 2100, sufficient on WRMI 15770, and // 7570 JBA in noise level. Next:

** U S A. 7570 & 15770, April 15 at 2126 check, Thaïs White in Spanish, presumably `Viva Miami` on WRMI, just confirming that these two frequencies are not split but still // (as they would be 24h later for WORLD OF RADIO).
Several WRMI frequencies are inaudible, April 17 at 0040 check, as I have turned on to see what`s around when the K-index is 6: 5850, 7455-RTTY only, 7570, 9395, 9955, 11580, 11825, 15770 all inaudible, but there is a JBA carrier on 15190. Propagation is bad, but I don`t think it`s that bad, rather most WRMI transmitters off the air. I am still getting bigsigs at 0057 from 15230 and 13740 Cuba, as well as several other US SW stations on 7 and 6 MHz bands. And 12105 WTWW in Russian is inbooming at 0058 April 17, often faded way down by this time (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 970, April 16 at 0620 UT, ad mentioning `Red Eye Radio`, loops NNE/SSW, i.e. WDAY Fargo ND, which is 10/10 kW U4. Another affiliate, less likely, is WMAY Springfield IL, among several further RER affils listed in the NRC AM Log. Originally a show specifically for truckers, now for all right-wing fantatix (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1270, April 17 at 0050 UT, VG with Spanish talk, taking caller from Florida, no doubt KFLC Fort Worth TX, 50/5 kW U4, logged only to note the IBOC noise is is throwing onto 1260 and 1280 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 1460, April 17 at 0046 UT, classic country from N/S, SAH of about 6 Hz with an ESPN station overtaking it. (Never mind SS KZUE closest in OK, easily overridden by any skywave). Each has two major possibilities in the NRC AM Log:
C&W: KLTC Dickinson ND 5000/5000 W U2; KCWM Hondo TX 500/226 watts U1
ESPN: KXPN Kearney NE 5000/56 W U1; KCLE Burleson TX 10000/700 W U4
Now which pair are 6 Hz apart? Otherwise, KCLE & KCWM most likely (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 4876, April 15 at 1012, talk in assertive Brazuguese, music, probably their version of the super-hype-voice-actors we hear from Mexico; very poor signal, but presumably Rdif Roraima, Boa Vista. Barely awake, did not nail the frequency vs 4875, but no het, and nothing on 4885 from either ZY at this late hour. Note: 4876 is not Acreana as per recent Pavanello log: that`s one of the 4885 stations (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CHINA. CNR1 jammers morning of April 15 with degraded propagation:
10960, April 15 at 1317, CNR1 jammer, very poor with flutter
10870, April 15 at 1318, CNR1 jammer, poor with flutter
11430, April 15 at 1320, CNR1 jammer, very poor with flutter
13870, April 15 at 1321, CNR1 jammer, very poor with flutter
13830, April 15 at 1321, CNR1 jammer, very poor with flutter
14870, April 15 at 1325, CNR1 jammer, very poor with flutter; none in the OOB 9s, 12s, 15s, 16s, 17s (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** COLOMBIA. 5910, April 15 at 0536, no signal from HJDH, and come to think of it, have not heard it here for some weeks. The other HJDH appears still extant on 6010+ with music, Spanish. Has anyone heard 5910 anywhen? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CUBA. 5040, April 15 at 0532, RHC in Spanish instead of English as now scheduled this hour; in fact, zero frequencies are supposed to be in Spanish after 0500. Why does RHC have such a hard time adhering to its own schedule? Low morale? Sheer incompetence? Dozing off in the nightmiddle? Blame it on automation? Unlikely, that. Still English on the rest of the overkill Cuban Five, 6000, 6060, 6100, 6165 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** PERU. 4790-, April 15 at 1007, I happen to awaken so check for R. Visión. Sounds like sermon in echoey chamber, best heard yet vs CODAR but still insufficient, and carrier still wobbling badly: maybe about to self-destruct again? For more, see CRV website:
under frecuencias choose Lambayeque to find 4790 plus two MW (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1768 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday April 15 at 1315 on WRMI 9955, sufficient without jamming. Next:
Wed 2100 WBCQ 7490v
Thu 0330 WRMI 9955 [or 1769 if ready in time]
** U S A. 5110-CUSB, April 15 at 0529, Brother Scare on WBCQ, fair-good. Seems they are back on original transmitter as it`s carrier plus USB, not LSB, and slightly on the lo side, ex-weaker 5109-AM DSB, slightly on the lo side of that. Larry Will visiting UK confirms:
``As for 5110, as you have heard, Bro Scare has bought Monday through Fridays 7 pm to 3 am Eastern [M-F 2300-0700 Tue-Sat]. The transmitter is supposedly on full power but I think it needs some tuning that will have to wait for Tim to make time to visit. 5110 is back on the CUSB exciter as well and I already miss the full AM. Regards Lw`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 5085, April 15 at 0243, tune in to WTWW-2 with big hum, then discussion of ham radio equipment. This must be the ``Live ham radio show Amateur Radio Roundtable every Tues night at 8:00 PM central (0200 [sic] UTC Weds) on W5KUB.COM`` which was going to add WTWW 9930 from UT April 8 at 0100. So the first hour was on 9930? And how much longer on 5085? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1530, April 15 at 0553 UT, seems there is a carrier vs Brother Scare on WCKY; first think it`s Colorado from the NW, but then with WCKY minimized, promo for ``24 hours on 100.9 FM and 1530 AM; 0558 UT listing upcoming Christian events in the Little Rock and Pine Bluff areas, so once again it`s 2.5 kW daytimer KVDW England AR, which apparently believes it`s OK to run the AM 24 hours as well as the FM translator. Seems a bit undermodulated, unless there really is also a CO carrier suppressing KVDW as well as overcoming The Overcomer (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1680, April 15 at 0546 UT, Thom Hartmann promoing his program on WPRR, 0547 UT back to the ``Grand Rapids studio`` referring to an AP story. At peak, signal about equal to musical KRJO Monroe LA, mutually nullable, fast SAH between them. Didn`t catch time for Thom, but WPRR sked shows weekdays 9 am [EDT = 1300 UT], ``Renaissance thinking about the issues of our day with host Thom Hartmann``, via that hotbed of liberalism, Ada/Grand Rapids MI.
But as we`ve found before, the WPRR program list is outdated, while the date-by-date program grid is presumably accurate, showing something else at 9 am; instead, Thom at 1-2 pm EDT M-F [17-18 UT], and later a different title, so different show or really a repeat? `Big Picture with Thom Hartmann` at 1-2 am Tue-Sat [05-06 UT]. I guess it`s different, originally at 9 pm [01 UT], ``Hosted by Thom Hartmann, the nation`s leading progressive radio and television host, The Big Picture presents news, opinions and debates on all of the most important topics [that] affect the world and your life.`` Hmm, this should have been what I was hearing at 0546 UT.
A few months ago we also used to run across Thom on Enid`s public access cable TV channel, with his arm in a sling. Here`s the current week`s program schedule, lots more good stuff:
and they do webcast,
