01/06/2013:  The June 2013 Solomon Islands IOTA Tour has become "The 3C Project"
(Connect, Communicate, Coordinate): "as a group of skilled and passionate
amateur radio operators", the organizers say, "we wanted to do more than just go
to exotic locations to operate from. Our Mission is to actively seek a dialogue
with islanders and discuss and record the needs of the villagers that we meet.
This will be an expedition with a difference". Operators include Ralph, H44RK
and Maggie, H44MK. Dom SQ9KWW will join the team on the 6th of June. The
tentative dates for the activation of H40IOTA and H44IOTA are as follows: 1-4

01/06/2013:  Members of ARI Sanremo will operate as IQ1SM/p from Lago Campo Golf

01/06/2013:  The Brazos Valley Amateur Radio Club (BVARC) will be participating
in the Museum Ships Weekend event on 1-3 June 2013 from Pelican Island (NA-143,
USi TX008S) near Galveston, Galveston county, Texas. KK5W, the BVARC club
callsign will be used. Activity will take place from Seawolf Park, at the
easternmost tip of Pelican Island, and will include the activation of both the
submarine USS Cavalla (SS-244) and the destroyer escort USS Stewart (DE-238).

04/06/2013:  Steve, 9M6DXX plans to operate as PJ4V from the island of Bonaire
(SA-006, WLOTA 1279, WWFF PAFF-024) from 4 or 5 June until the 16th. Activity

06/06/2013:  Operators Pierre SB6A, Rolf SM6IQD, Sten SM6MIS, Rick SM6U, Tomas
SM6XMY and Janne SM6YOF will be active as 7S6W from the island of Vinga (EU-043)
from 6-9 June 2013. Plans are to have 3 stations on the air and they will focus

through June 22th, 2013. Bill will be active on 160 through 6 metres on CW, SSB,
and RTTY.  His equipment will consist of an Elecraft K3 and using a 3 element
beam for 20 through 6 metres, and wire antennas for 160 thru 30 metres. Special

08/06/2013:  Ben DO1BEN, Andy DL5AND, Vincent DL6II and Georg DL3YAT will be
active as LA5O from Hadesland, Laukvik on the island of Austvagoy, Lofoten
Islands (IOTA EU-076, WW Loc. JP78HK) between 8-14th June 2013. QRV all bands
using Elekraft K3, Yaesu FT 1000, Yaesu FT 847 (VHF), Expert 1k2 Amp. Antennas

21/07/2013:  Ma, BA4MY will be active as B4/BA4MY from Jiming Dao [Dao = island]
(AS-146, WLOTA 2489), Chengshan Jiao area, Weihai Prefecture, Shandong Province,

24/07/2013:  Operators Stefano IK6JRI, Fred IK7JWX, Vincenzo IZ8LFI, Leo I8LWL

26/07/2013:  Take, JI3DST will be active as JI3DST/1 from Shikine Shima [shima =
island] (AS-008, WLOTA 2267, JCG-3210) from 26th to 29th July, 2013. This
activity will also include an entry in the RSGB IOTA Contest (27-28 July). Take
might also use the callsign JI3DST/JI1 during his stay on the island. QSL via

30/07/2013:  For the first time the lighthouse on Ilheus Formigas (EU-003, DIP
AZ-013, WW Loc. HM77OG) will be activated. It is a difficult and expensive
operation because the chartered vessel ANTARES, which sails the team and
material from Vila do Porto, Santa Maria island to Formigas and back, will stay
all times anchored nearby the Ilheus Formigas to ensure a quick evacuation of
the team and equipment in case of sudden weather changes. Station and
accommodation will be within the lighthouse so that the operation counts for DFP
NEW ONE!, ARLHS AZO-001, TWLHD WLH CU-002, WLOTA 4293 and is Admiralty reference
D2638. For WorldWide Flora and Fauna, this activation counts for the Reserva
Natural do Ilhote das Formigas (WWFF CTFF-039). As the landing on Ilheus
Formigas is very difficult and as the antenna erection around the lighthouse can
only be effected at WX with low winds and waves, date can vary by a couple of
days. Tentaive dates are +/- 30-31 July 2013. All depends on the WX. Please

22/09/2013:  In close cooperation between the DAGOE Foundation and Mercy Ships,
Arie PA3A, Marian PD1AEG, Ad PA8AD and Angelina PA8AN will run the 4th DAGOE
Mercy Ships Radio DXpedition to the Republic of the Congo. They will work as
TN5MS on board the Hospital ship Africa Mercy from 22-27 September and run a
DXpedition from Pointe Noire, Republic of the Congo, between 28 September and 11

09/10/2013:  Luc, F5RAV, will again be active as 6V7T from La Calao, Senegal,
between 9-17th October 2013. A side trip to N'gor Island (AF-045) is planned for

31/05/2013:  This year the South Flanders DX Activity Group will activate the
callsign F/ON6JUN/P for the 69 anniversary of D-DAY in Normandy, France at
Ranville (WW Loc. IN99UF, Dept. 14). Team operators will be Willy ON4LBV, Xavier
ON4ALY, Fernand ON6UF and Jos ON5SD. Their special event station will be on-air
on all major bands from 31st May till 7th June 2013, modes will be CW, SSB and

31/05/2013:  The Grey Point Fort (CASHOTA GI-060, WAB J47, WW Loc. IO74DP),
Crawfordsburn, Co Down, Northern Ireland (EU-115, WLOTA 1439), special event
will be a 48hrs event starting at 1700hrs 31st May 2013 to 1700hrs 2nd June
2013. The event is not a contest; It is an opportunity for all radio amateurs to
make point to point contact on 80-10m SSB and PSK with the three special event
callsigns to commemorate GB0GPF / GN0URN / MN0GPF. A certificate will be awarded
to all stations that make contact with all three special event station callsigns
on any qualifying bands or modes of operation. If a station is unable to contact
all three stations, individual QSL cards are available. Two classes of awards
are available, one for licensed operators and one for short wave listeners. QSL

01/06/2013:  The 'Elettra' was a two-masted steam yacht that Guglielmo Marconi
used as a floating laboratory for many experiments. Part of her keel stands in
the grounds of Villa Griffone, at Pontecchio near Bologna, from where special

01/06/2013:  For the second time consecutively the Radioaficionados of the Vega
Baja (ARVB) and the local section of URE Orihuela will return to activate the
S-61 Submarine Delfin, located in the port of Torrevieja (Alicante), with the
call sign EG5SUB. They will start on Saturday, 1st of June at 9 am GMT through
Sunday, 2nd in the evening using several modalities of transmission, digital SSB

Ship Elissa for Museum Ships Weekend from Galveston Island (NA-143, USi TX-001S,

02/06/2013:  Jeff, KL2HD and other members of the KL7 NWR Amateur Radio Club
will be active as KL7NWR from Attu Island (NA-064, USi AK009S), 3rd South
Central county, Alaska, from 2-5 June 2013. Actual days operating depend on boat
transportation. This is a Special Event Station commemorating the 70th
anniversary of the end of the Battle of Attu in 1943. In 2013, Attu Island and
other Aleutian Islands, also celebrate being part of the Alaska Maritime
National Wildlife Refuge (WWFF KFF-143) for 100 years. Attu is the westermost
point of North America and the end of the Aleutian Islands (IOTA NA-064, USi
AK-009S). Plans are to be QRV on 20, 17 and 15 metres from Invasion Beach Yellow

05/06/2013:  In June-July 1944 the BBC war correspondents used the tower of the
castle at Creully as a radio studio, from where the first reports of the Battle
of Normandy were broadcast. Look for special callsign TM5BBC to be aired again

RA9ODD has cancelled plans to travel to the Kurile Islands, but now intends to
travel to islands in the Sea of Okhotsk (R0C). From Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, RA9ODD
will go to the Shantarskiye Islands (AS-044, RRA RR-13-08, RDA HK-26) and then
to Iony Island (AS-069, RRA RR-13-10, RDA HK-13) before returning to the
mainland at Magadan. He hopes fly into Yuzhno-Sakhalinskon 3rd June; estimated
island QRV dates were not mentioned. [DX World]
R155C operates to honour 155 years of the city Chabarowsk (RDA HK-01) till the
