BITS & PIECES -
[QRT] SV2/SV1RP/T, MT. ATHOS - UPDATE - George SV1RP is now returning to Athens. June 14, 2015 - The following news is being circulated around the DX world by Sotiris, SV1BDO. This info is an update to Saturday's news that SV2/SV1RP/T was apparently operating from Mt Athos. "Hi to all. I just spoke with George, SV1RP by cellphone. George is really inside Mount Athos and claims that he operates 100% legally according to Greek laws. He has in his hands all relative documentation that he is going to officially translate and send to ARRL DXCC desk for validation as soon as he returns home. He signs /T (training), as he trains some monks to Amateur Radio. Operation hours are not fixed as he follows the Orthodox time schedule of the hosting monastery. He will operate mainly in CW. QSL route will be announced later." Earlier today (15th June), Monk Apollo, SV2ASP/A, the only resident ham operator at Mt Athos, was also active. [DX-World]
T31LP, CENTRAL KIRIBATI - IMPORTANT UPDATE - It has now transpired, even though the TIGHAR website makes mention that radio operations are now "land based", T31LP is operating onboard the vessel "Nai'a", which is alongside the SS Norwich City, offshore Nikumaroro island. This means T31LP is NOT good for DXCC or IOTA. In QSO with N0UN (n0un.net/t31lp-central-kiribati-on-the-air/), you can listen and hear Lee clearly state all radio operations so far have been from the boat. There is a chance he may yet try put his "feet on the sand". [DX-World]
T32TV, WASHINGTON ISLAND - UPDATE: Stan KH6CG, QSL manager for Tov T32TV informs readers that a new FT450D radio has just been sent to Washington Island, OC-084. In a few days Tov should be receiving it and then QRV around the first part of July after about a 6 month blackout. Look for Tov on 20 and 17m (around 14238 and 18130 +/-). [DX-World]
