BITS & PIECES -

FT[T], TROMELIN ISLAND UPDATE -
This from the FT4TA team:
A great step was done yesterday with the shipment of the 3 boxes
containing the equipment. They are on the way for Marseille (Southern
France) where they will be embarked at the end of the month on a boat
heading to Reunion island.
That puts an end to several intensive weeks devoted to the construction of
the antennas and various equipment that were tested, weighed and packed. The
to-do list is still very long and all the team is mobilized on the various
tasks.

VK, SANDY ISLET (OC-294 New!)
Cezar (VE3LYC), Craig (VK5CE), Johan (PA3EXX), and Bob (KD1CT) are pleased
to announce that after almost three years of discussions with the Department
of Parks and Wildlife of Western Australia, they have been granted a landing
and operating permit from Sandy Islet, OC-294.
Editor's Note: Sandy Islet, of Scott Reef South (WW Loc. PH05VW), is part
of the Scott Reef Nature Reserve (IUCN Category 1a), a Marine Protected
Area.
They will attempt to be on the air for four full days between September 14
and 21. Details can be found on the expedition website (vk6isl.weebly.com/).
VK6ISL represents the callsign the Team applied for.
The costs associated with this project are extremely high, in great part
due to the licensing restrictions imposed by the Conservation Authority for
boat transportation, which drastically reduced the available options. The
Team is looking for any possible financial support from groups and
individuals who can help them defray some of these costs." [DX-World]
